Introduction

Bewdley Development Trust is a community interest company which was formed in 2006 as the successor to Opportunity Bewdley. We are committed to ensuring that Bewdley remains a thriving market town in which to live, work and visit.

Our vision for Bewdley is "To have a thriving, high quality market town which meets the needs of the local community, develops to enhance the town's historic character, encourages and supports existing and new creative businesses and achieves a reputation distinct from other neighbouring towns".

The Trust has been successful in securing grants from a variety of funding sources to deliver projects which have made real improvements to the physical infrastructure of the town, given support to local community organisations and businesses, contributed to transport schemes and helped enhance and publicise Bewdley's offering as a visitor attraction. As we move forwards, our mandate is to:

• Maintain and manage a portal website to represent the entire town
• Continue to deliver the Local Distinctiveness Action Plan - a project to enhance the offering of the town for residents and visitors
• Take ownership of certain built assets in the town and develop and maintain them for community benefit
• Work towards a sustainable environment including reducing energy use and the development of renewable energy sources
• Work with the public and private sectors to develop businesses and services to encourage business start–ups
• Seek funding for projects in the town
